WHY WILD & GORGEOUS?

This month we re brand from ilovegorgeous to WILD & GORGEOUS. Lucy and I have been designing and delivering beautiful clothes gorgeous girls for 10 years. Established in 2006 from our respective kitchen tables we were delighted and amazed in equal measure by our early success with a sell out first collection and our second collection being snapped up by Selfridges and many other fabulous boutiques. Our aim was to provide something a little bit different for girls to wear. ILOVEGORGEOUS was created as a celebration of fashion and femininity and daring to be different. We experimented with unusual fabrics colours and trims and gained a solid reputation for designing iconic party wear.
Blog-letterBut we never tackled boys wear. Over time we discussed launching a boys collection we always came back to the same problem…would any self respecting boy be seen dead wearing an ILOVEGORGEOUS label? We thought not. And so for 5 years we deliberated over a rebrand but always retreated as we feared loosing the reputation and name we have so successfully established and also because we could not come up with a viable alternative. We toyed with NOTSOGORGEOUS (too negative), JUSTASGORGEOUS (indecisive and also ran), ILOVEHANDSOME (a bit wet), GORGEOUS GIRLS AND WILD BOYS (what a mouthful), even ILOVEGEORGE (just NO, said Lucy)…Until finally we came up with WILD & GORGEOUS and it felt so right. Retaining all that we love about our original name but adding a bit of wild into the mix. We love the idea that both boys and girls can be equally wild and equally gorgeous. They can also be wildy gorgeous and gorgeously wild.

Having designed all the packaging ourselves for ILOVEGORGEOUS we realised we needed to work with a top graphic designer to get the new branding just right. Out with the florescent pink logo and floral flourishes and in with soft grey, silver and a hint of florescent orange. We are delighted with the result and hope that it will showcase our first collection for girls AND boys to perfection.
